TOAD VS CLIFFORD
HI ALL
Just need some advise about purchasing an alarm, was thinking of going for either a clifford or a toad alarm.
The first option: Clifford 650 which costs £309 full fitted
The secong option: Toad Ai606 with engine start and full window closure £335 fully fitted
If anybody has these alarms and any alarm fitters please give me your advise on what to get.

Who is fitting the alarm? that is the biggest issue.
You need a decent clifford installer to fit a clifford, its the better alarm system and is a full closure system (i take it you mean the concept 650 mk2? or is this the older 650?) and you can have addons like intelli start etc.

The installer has 16 years fitting alarms as he says the company is called safe n sound from e-bay.The issue is that the 650 clifford alarm is just the normal 650 spec with no engine start and no full window closure if I wanted these they would be an add on and for the intellstart for the clifford and full window closure as well as the alarm it would cost about £500, compare to £330 with toad.
I have hear that the clifford alarm company has gone bust two years ago and not producing the kind of quality they where before, as someone else owns them??? dont know if true or not
Plus I have hear that toad alarms are more reliable in that people dont have so may problems with them.

The clifford is still the better alarm, it also has Blackjax, and Proximity sensor as std.
So it will warn potential theifs away from the car before they cause damage.
I have a Concept 650 on mine, and have generally had clifford installed on every car i have owned.
I have also had a Toad AI606 on a Cavalier GSI i owned, and I fitted a Toad AI606 to a friends Legacy. It was good but nothing on the clifford, the Toad would often false alarm and had to be replaced on my Cavalier twice, it went wrong a third time, at which point the installer removed it and fitted a Clifford for me.
The clifford also comes with a Lifetime Gurantee. (Original Owner only)

i have hurd a few bad things about the mentioned company and im in the trade myself!the toad alarm started out as a directed electronic product with a couple of changes and stickers made by the people for "toad"cheap alarm simples!cliffords are querky even if fitted correctly part and parcel of the product but there 100% better than they used to be years ago.i would have a clifford any day better protection and its not been messed about with by a "third" party.only problem you might have is getting one fitted because there not shiping meny from the states whenever i go to order products there out of stock,

if i was you i would get it fitted by someone who has a shop etc, as if something goes wrong etc, you can go to them to have a moan.
i had a clifford a few years ago on a old car fitted by a mobile fitted, and when i had a problem it took lots and lots of phone calls, and yeah m8 ill be there tomorrow before it got fixed.
so if it was me, i would get it fitted somewhere where the fitted is good and you can go if you have a problem

toad gets my thumbs up
got AI606 with remote start & proximity sensor at a bargain price. literally half of what i paid for a clifford evuivalant when i had my FTO.
highly recommend Barry from Safe'n'sound based in wakefield & he will travel. does 75miles each way at no extra cost & removed my crappy laserline alarm free & he showed me how poorley it was fitted - which i kinda new as it was hanging under the dash
he installed it top notch job & got the usual receipt, insurance certificate stuff & as long as i have the car it is warrantied.

Just read the full thread - cant say about others experiences but barry from safe n sound was great with me an did a great job on installing the toad.
Ive had a ai606 an clifford but gone back to toad as i never had a single issue. But its down to each persons own experience i suppose
