Not a jogger but i used to work in sports shop 2 years.

Look at the Air max and also Reebok DMX and Addidas Torsion.

they are all good trainers.

DMX's are preferd by marathon runners.

Personally i user Air max, as there air sole cusions and its a strong trainer.

Thumbs down

I wouldn't recommend Nike Air trainers.

I am 14stone (not that heavy ,over 6ft) and have burst the 'bubble' on three pairs of Nike air trainers through running on a treadmill. This causes a very annoying squeak from your shoe!

To be fair Nike replaced the trainers, and the money in one case where they could not replace the shoe but I do not trust them anymore as it was a long process getting my money back.

I wouldn't know what to wear now as I can't be ar$ed with exercise. My recaro's are far more comfy

I've run the last 5 London Marathon's wearing Asics on all occasions. Avoid the Air Max, as have a casual/work pair and the bubble has started squeeking after only 2 months!

Unhappy

When Asics first started sponsoring athletics events I couldn't work out who it was advocating the use of Application Specific Integrated Circuits, or why

im 14 1/2 stone train 4-5 times a week, never had a problem yet.

As i started DMX are highly reccomended for Marathon runners, the DMX technology is the lightest ive seen yet.

its a combination of little pockets air, in hexa shapes.

Look for the brightly colour ones.

Im sure if you ask in the sports shop they'd tell you.

Si,

Go to a proper independant running shop and not just your cr@ppy sports shop in the local retail park.

First, you need to determine if your feet overpronate, underpronate or are natural. There's no easy way of checking this yourself and you'd either have to go to a specialist running shop or a podiatrist to give you an idea.

Then you can look at the various shoes that are designed for your type of gait.

Personally, I'm a bad over overpronator. All this means is that my foot rolls inwards too much when I land on my foot. I need a pair of shoes and orthotics to get my into more of a balanced position.

When I first started running, I just went for a pair of Nike's. Now after 2 years, an operation to realease the muscle compartments on both legs and 12 months of shin-splints, I now spend a lot more time picking the right shoe.

If you're gonna start jogging a lot, then try to get it right otherwise you'll just end up with lots of injuries.

Also, whatever you do, don't run on concrete or tarmac as it'll do more damage than good. Find a park with lots of grass or some forest trails with woodchip on the paths.

I run in Ascis GT2070's myself, but the Nike Air Triax max is a good one too (for overpronators, like myself)
