Default for F*&^ Sake and other expletives

Set out to do the pads this evening, first wheel, drivers side front, wheel off with relative ease, turn the disk/calliper assembly to give better access, attack first bolt (the lower one), STUCK FAST!!! try the top bolt absolutely the same, grabbed the WD40 and Silicon spray eventually got the lower bolt off but dispite about 30 mins of swearing, and pulling at it I cant get the bugger at the top to move,
Any ideas???

Default pads

If you are just changing the front pads then there are no bolts to be undone? Just the retaining clips that hold the pads in and the anti rattle clip on top? Pads pull out and new ones slip in? open brake resevoir and gently lever back old pads if needed?

If you need the caliper off then lots of WD40 or the like and leave it over night unfortunately. Use a good sized half inch drive bar to get some leverage?

Why are you removing the caliper to change the pads, its just pins and R-clips.

Just the way I have been taught tbh, but if you think they'll go in without removing the caliper then I guess I'll be going back out there after dinner.

There is no need to remove the caliper just to change the pads, thats why the caliper has pins.
Just remember to watch your brake fluid level when you push the pistons back and to do this before you remove your old pads.

As above no reason at all to remove caliper, easy job with them on, remove slip pin, then steel pins then spring...access granted.....5 mins gone.

Incidentally though, go south on that top bolt.....remove the brake line bracket for more slack in the line then get a spanner on the nut from the bottom, that gives access for a bar, or in my case i used a wheel nut bar, no probs!....also WD 40 etc can take 30mins or so to penatrate.

On the brake fluid subject...remove the filler cap to allow pressure upwards, put clean rag all around the resevour....brake fluid will come out, use clean rag when complete to soak fluid down to correct fill level...hope that not teaching you to suck eggs there.

Sodding Pins!!!! got the top one out but the lower one wont budge, left it well and truly soaked in WD40 for an hour and continually topped it up but even with gentle persuasion via a hammer the thing wouldnt move. Dispite my knowing full well that I can do this I'm gonna have to take it to a garage tomorrow.
