I am sure I do not need to tell you this, but these cars drink like no other!!!

I simply can not afford over £300 per month in fuel! I am filling up 8 times per month to support this beast!

I have a MY03 STi in black with 27.5k miles on the clock. Totally standard, what sort of price should I ask?

Trade-in probably as above £17-£18k, private £18-£19k.
When you look at the money lost on a new car, it can make more sense to keep it after factoring in the loss.

Then they put it on the forecourt for £19,999.

I'm sticking with 17k trade-in 18k private

book price for an 03sti is £15.500 i believe...

Had a dealer tell me that he bought a 53 plate for £15250...

Look at the subaru used web page and they still sell them for 19k plus.

There is not much (if anything) to be gained by buying from the dealers with a car of that age. It still has 12months or more MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY remaining , no matter where you buy it from.(mileage dependant of course)

what else would the dealers offer?

Stick to your guns if you think your price is fair...im going to

good luck with the sale

Have you checked for any holes or big leaks in your petrol tank.

Right I have put her up for sale at £17.5k, I need a quick sale for financial reasons....

I also purchased a warranty to April 2007, the proper Scooby warranty....

I think that is resonable for a car of this age.... What do you guys think?

I think pin777 is more acurate with the cost given.

your mileage is definately against you, theres loads of lower ,mileage cars out there, lots with PPP, for similar or mostly less money.

16k is tops from a dealer.

Is that on long or short journeys????? I got 320 out of mine the last time I filled up, though that is an exception, usually 250 doing very short trips to work and back. Maybe you have got a hole in your tank

By driving a 30mpg car compared to the 20mpg sti, over 1 Month. You would save 1/3 of your £300 so £100.
Over a year lets say £1200 saved, but £10,000 lost on the car!
It would take 8 years to break even at todays value.

You know it makes sense, pull the advert!

there was a 03 sti ppp with 16k on the clock at my local dealers last October for £18999. There has been some in the for sale section with less miles ppp springs etc go for less than 17k. If you want a quick sale i would say you need to bee looking around this price tag

I am in the motor trade and these cars seem to be getting a hammering at auctions. I watched a 04 Plate STI with 9k on the clock not get a bid last week- Bidding started at 14000! nobody put their hand up.

It had no fog lamp blanking covers and no radio/cd player. Other than that very clean.

Thanks
Gavin

These rally reps do have a small audience, not surprised it didnt sell at auction.

Funily enough that is exactly what I am looking at for a replacement. I test drove the 140bhp version on Saturday, mind blowing performance for a deisel and very roomy inside.

The other car I am looking at is the Lexus IS200, although the performance is not clever at all.

Recently bought a golf gt tdi 115 bhp 6 speed. Bought it for £6400 (w reg) with 87k on the clock, have recently chipped it to 140 bhp. I have done nearly 10k in the car since Ive had it and only had to replace a brake bulb. By no means a sports car, it's good for long motorway journeys, and as stated above youll see 500 from a £37 full tank.

Ill never buy another car under 3 years old again, and even if something major goes wrong I'll still have a big saving over a new car.

Hmm, I'm afraid the fuel consumption is part of the deal - comes with the territory. I considered all things like fuel, insurance, attracting wrong kind of attention, etc... when considering the Scoob but still the desire to own one (and be able to afford to buy) out weighed the running costs and down sides.
Here for the love of it and just pay the credit card bill when it comes
