Thumbs up

Ok, re-posting this due to BBS problems .....

Those of you who attended Sunday's rolling road session at Well Lane may of noticed the power figures that my car spat out - 289 BHP, 270 lb torque, peaking and holding at 16 PSI :-

Car spec :- MY94 STi 1, 118,000 KMS, no (obvious) engine mods, running standard induction and exhaust systems.

As the car is only supposed to be rated at 250 BHP, clearly somebody, either here or in japan has played about with the engine. So, my questions are :-

1) 16 PSI - What should I be getting with an un-modified engine ? Is 16 PSI too much, on stock internals ? Finding info about STI version 1 is v. difficult, so wether the internals can cope with this kind of boost is unknown. It's showing no obvious signs of pinking, and it's been at this level for at least 9 months.

2) Clutch - will a standard cluth cope with this kind or bhp/torque, or would an upgraded one be more likely to live ? Currently, the clutch is showing signs of a hard life.

3) As I'm running on OEM induction and exhaust system at the moment, would I be pushing my luck by upgrading these, and seeing if I can get any more power out ?

Many thanks.

Wouldnt have thought that 16psi would be a problem, it may just be that the car has loosened up with the miles on her (about 75k miles?) but the engine should be good for over 300 easily (and being an sti it should have forged parts in there) But was there also on sunday so dont think you need to change much on her

Well you could always put a full scoobysport system on her you saw how well that Terzo3 was with one (252bhp i think) it should improve your torque levels as well as giving you over the 300bhp mark may cost you 500 quid thou but thats a little price to pay

Tony -

Depends how brave I'm feeling as you say, I've probably got more then enough, at some point soon I'm going to book it in for some 'exploratory' work, just to check that everything's tickety-boo.
