Default any advice on making a air intake heat shield

hi i have already got a KnN typhoon kit but want to take it off and put a large cone filter under the bonnet... i understand the disadvantages of heat soak witch is why i am going to buy a turbo blanket to keep it snug lol
i have a rough idea, im going to use some sheet ally or stainless to create a sectioned part for the filter and rivit it to the inner wing area...

anyone done this before or have any pics or advice ?

i know the typhoon is good but i have been told an open filter would give me a more vocal turbo spool up noise

Lots of people have done this sort of thing before so if you google image search you will probably find pics.

Not sure how effective it really is TBH unless its completely air tight other then the cold feed from outside the bay as warm air will just seep in and heat it up to the bay temp (I.e. put a shoe box in your living room and put the heater on. Inside isn't going to be much different temp to the room.

Wrapping and shields keep heat in one area which is good but I really don't think these crude boxes people make really make any odds and even if they did by a degree or two I doubt you would feel it. But each to their own.

ohh ok i see what you mean i doubt it could make it air tight but was thinking of using door seal to seal it against the bonnet its more to stop the cold air from the air duct/feed mixing with the warm air before its drawn into the intake... its mostly experimental just want to increase the intake noises tbh il take ur advice on board though cheers FMJ for the reply
