My classic impreza turbo recently developed a screeching sound when making slow speed turns, such as parking

The strange thing is it seems to be comming from right behind the steering wheel, inside the cabin; so not the power steering belt

Today the screeching noise has been replaced with a 'tick tick tick' noise when turning for tight manovers , again it seems to be comming from right behind the steering wheel.

Any ideas guys??

i had a problem on my old classic, was the UJ on the steering.

can be seen from the top but is better from underneath, cover in grease.

From your reply it sounds like I don't even need to take the plastic cowling off ?

 

the UJ is in the engine bay mate, that is where i'd start first.
