If you have a UK car you basically need one if the following

Remove immobiliser chip from spare key, open steering cowling and stick the chip as close to the ignition as possible

This will let the ecu think your original key is in

The put the new sti key in and away you go

Or keep your normal key with you at all times

Or get an aftermarket ecu lol

would an STI key work if you bought a separate sigma key fob for the sigma M30 alarm?

http://www.scorpionauto.com/home/products/SIGAC110

Apparently this can be coded to the car using the keypad in the dash pocket.

Would this plus the STI key replace the key with the built in chip?

Wouldn't fit the barrel properly or start the car.

It was on a Jap 22B so should have worked.

Sounds like the key was not cut properly as they work on all classics
