Porsche 928

Porsche 928
Always wanted one of these.
Good points:- Fantastic looks, fantastic engine note, reasonably practical, cheap to buy, neutral handling for the public roadm, low depreciation.
Bad points:- Old technology, poor mpg (if driven 'properly'), scary parts prices, bit heavy, suspect reliability, very few manual cars available, high insurance costs.
So what do you think? Would be looking at an S4 or GT car (86-92)
Cheers.
Martin.

Not to be confused with "Risky Business" which was out some time ago
Which also had a 928 in, ended up in a lake iirc ?
I love these, seeing weird science as a teenager when they smoke off in one.

I love the noise a 928 makes on full chat
Problems: Engine is a pain to work on...especially cambelts (can be done incar, but it is a pain ).
Autoboxes can play up, especially if neglected or used hard/high miles
Electrical gremlins are common. Nothing major but can run up bills in diagnosis labour.
Bodywork is mostly aluminum, but can bubble very badly if chipped or badly repaired.
Finally, not the fastest tool in the box as they are quite heavy cars, but it is an excellent car to drive and much up the miles in

Don't forget to fit a towbar for the oil tanker.
According to the owners manual, these beasts consume 1L of oil every 1000 miles from new ,
so I would expect a little more on an older vehicle.
