Question Puzzled ...

Why, if you add a driver to your Insurance who is unemployed does it skyrocket? Change them to retired and it drops hugely!

Weird ...................... and probably illegal?

Unemployed = Chav boy racer on the dole.

Retired = Elderly gentleman claiming his pension.

Not my opinion, just a generalized stereotype.

The reasoning i'm guessing is unemployed have more time to be driving around all day, hence more driving, more risk!

P.S. As you may have noticed i'm not an expert/insurance underwriter

unemployed people are generally up to no good and more likely to use their car in illegal situations? eg; ram raiding

I think that is as good an answer as you might get.

I remember when I was getting quotes a long time ago he asked where I work, and because I said a factory, he put me as a machine operator. He said that it’ll be cheaper than 'factory worker' because factory workers are more likely to be drink drivers and drive dangerously so insurance will be higher.

So I’m guessing that unemployed people are the same.

Thats because an employed woman is only a danger going to work in the morning, and getting home again at PM.

A Housewife is free to cause chaos all day long. Hence the premium rise.
