Ive been useing 'Roundup' weed killer for 20 years in my job and its great stuff.
Spray it on the leaves of the weeds (when theres no rain expected for at least 6 hours).
The weed will suck the killer through the leaves into the roots and kill it for good.
Dont touch the weeds till there dead.
On the bottle it says that children and pets are in no danger as soon as its dried (which takes 10mins-2 hours depending on sun/wind etc.
Just follow the instuctions and you cant go wrong.
Available at any garden centre or homebase

Glyphosate............... is the name to look for.

Also known as roundup but cheaper to buy a non-branded product

I bought a 5 litre drum of concentrated Glyphosate off Ebay, with the dilution instructions I reckon I have enough to treat most of Aberdeenshire for the next 10 years

I've used it on my lockblock drive, courtyard and paths this year, had to treat them twice, maybe crank up the dosage next year

Blow torch works well on block paving. You can get ones just for this job (have a long stem). Quick blast kills any plant.

But longer term you would be better to chemically treat if you can do so safely with your dogs about.

my other half and my nephew decided to try the old coke and menthos trick.

Very impressive, but the bloody coke absolutely mullered the grass. dead within a day or so

Swiss, a little insider information for you, tell them to try baking powder or glucose powder, it cuts in easier.

Coke is always stronger than grass.

Dead within a day or so, that'll be the menthos, it should be illegal

Truth. Salting the earth used to be a favourite trick of anyone capturing an enemy city - Stops stuff growing for years.

Nods.

Just dont do like me, Glypho the next doors garden for them, then walk back over my perfect lawn and waking up the next morning to see shoe print size bits of yellow grass up and down my lawn.... they slowly went 100% dead over a couple of days. I thought it looked cool.... the mrs was not so pleased.
