What an absolute crock of sh!te! The original Karate Kid appealed because Larusso was such a wimp and gave kids the world over hope, this Jedi Smith lad is just too full of himself like his father and mother. The original film spawned a generation of young wannabe Karate Kids doing the wax on wax off and the one leg two hands in the air thing, what legacy is this going to leave. None I tell you, just a by the number remake.

Another remake to taint the memory of a classic. Liam Neeson is a great actor ( who can forget his 'the pink elephant if you please' in the Darkman), but he's no George Peppard. Milking cash cows that's all these tw@ts are doing.

Not interested in the film but I have seen the kid in various interviews. Talk about full of himself - he thinks he is God's gift to the world!

Even though Karate is japanese, the word seems to be used generically to describe any form of self defence.
I'll watch it only to see Jackie Chan as I liked his old films. I can imagine mini-Will to be a jive talking squirt though!

am curious to see them both but worried they'll just ruin them for me, why don't they just re-release the originals (realise there's no a-team film)

I'd highly recommend NOT watching the A-Team. Was a waste of a few hours of my life

Terrible film, nothing at all like how it should have been....

To be fair, without using it as a comparison to the classic tv series, I thought it was ace.

It wasn't meant to be a full on action adventure, but mote of the true comedy of the a team.
It did however have the double takes and the quirkiness of the characters. That alone was great.

Good to see I was not alone in thinking that Kung Fu is somewhat different to karate and so the title is a little odd

I'm sure I'd heard that they wanted to call it Kung-Fu Kid but that name and loads similar were already copyrighted...

Well I went to watch the Karate Kid with some doubt, I imagined quietly getting my phone out and playing silent games...

But I was hooked. It was a great little film, true to the original in much of the story, and Jackie Chan was fantastic! :-) Fan-cheesy-tastic.

Agreed. The original worked for exactly that reason and even by the end the kid was no karate master but his courage and confidence had seen him through. This films looks so sh1te there is no way I'm going to pay to watch it on the big screen.

The other reason thhe original was so good was that Mr Mayaggi (sp?) was an unknown and couldn't have looked less like a Karate master, I would have thought most people know Jackie Chan's talents

Sammo Hung would of been better suited to act as mr miyagi..I found the movie ****e but i guess it will appeal to the kids,it's a shame they don't get to see the original of these films...

I thought it was alright - no oscar winner, but very watchable.

I think you are all reading to much into this. It's a story of good defeating evil and triumph over adversity - just go with it.

And I thought he wasn't too bad as an actor - not as cringeworthy as the kid in T2, and you can certainly see Will Smith's manerisms

It was virtually a clone of the old one, the chinesse boy was soo good and the thought that someone can get to his skill in a few months is laughable I wonder how good that chinesse boy will be when he gets to around 18 years old

Just watched it, and it was ok as a stand alone film.
But the original was a massive hit to all teenage whimps, this however didn't have the same depth.

I have not seen the full version, so maybe some parts if it I felt were lacking are taken into more depth in the extra 20 mins cinema release?

I felt the relationship between Dre and Mr. Han needed mote depth.
I wanted to know how Dre lost his father. Maybe that would have helped the bond between both characters to be more real (to me)?

I heard on the radio yester day the reason its not called 'The Kung Fu Kid' is because Dreamworks complained that it was too similar to 'Kung Fu Panda' FFS!!

I think in region 6 (China) as well as some others it is called The Kung Fu Kid. Or similar names.
