Was in Toys R Us today and saw a childs bike with what appeared to be motorbike tyres fitted. Later on I saw an adults bike with the same tyres. It looked both awesome and ridiculous at the same time.

I saw a kid of about 8 jump on the thing and try to ride it and he couldn't get more than about 6 feet without almost falling off. What on earth are they for? Is it off-road, because the review on the website says it's rubbish offroad.

They are designed to run very low tyre pressure for a softer ride. The toysrus one is just a.. Well toy really

Big,soft tyres like that at low pressure are going to cause enormous amounts
of drag & friction.Completely useless & very difficult to peddle for a youngster.

Especially if you were to make it puncture proof with that sealant you put into the tyre

Great on sand, snow, mud etc

Not so hot on Tarmac for obvious reasons

That's how we're winding him up, there's not a lot of snow, sand or even mud around here for 99% of the year. I have shopping tyres on my mountain bike to cope with the terrain.
