OMG!!! Can spiders jump ?
strange thread but bear with me. ive just been sitting in the garden, and noticed that there was a huge spider web next to a small bush, BUT, the top of it goes from the bush and streches about 4 feet to the washing line. how did it get from washing line to bush ?
surely it cant jump that far ? ? ? can they ? ? ?

Yep you're all right. The spiders let the breeze and thermals carry them and then they crawl back across their webbing (I also need to get out more! lmao!)

Yes they can.
They jump onto your face while you're sleeping on the sun lounger and crawl up your nose and spin webs around your bogies.

Spiders CAN jump. Imagine this... 10 years ago got a new hire car for 6 weeks (sorting out a project - again). It was a new Avensis, huge if I remember, was happy to get this instead of the usual Focus.
Hot day, got in and bearing in mind that I am terrified of spiders, I spot one in the corner of the windscreen just above the driver's seat. It looks at me, I look at it and it............jumps on my face. I scream (not too cool I know) jump out of the car and proceed to mash it with my foot into the carpet of the new Toyota.
Believe me, spiders CAN jump.
