Just bought a copy of half life generations. Downloaded the 70 meg retail update for CS. Now i need to get my a$$ kicked by some fellow scooby Doos

Is there a scoobynet server that I can log onto?
Have been playing quakeIII/DFLW a lot so should at least last a few mins before geting pounded

Any tips or patches you think I need to load let me know. I'm on 512k cable modem so figure that should be faster enough.

Look on http://www.counter-strike.net for the latest mods if you have an older version.

Eeek sorry I did not read yer post properly

You can download bots, although after a while they get extremely predictable it will give you a chance to get used to the maps and kill a few bots on the way to save yourself getting bored! You will also get to learn how to purchase the weapons at the beginning of a game quickly through the short cut keys. Only other tip I can give is to learn how to spot a team mate as on the first couple of go's you will probably have troubles knowing if it is a terrorist or a counter terrorist. Plus don't waste $6000 on the heavy machine gun it is rubbish! Try and get realbot.

You may also wish to download gamespy as this has many many counterstrike servers for you to join in with, many have noobies like yourself on.

You connection speed will be fine, just look for a server that has an all round good ping. Enjoy!

There is a locked Scoobynet server, a public server and a public server with some non-standard maps in.

You'll also need icq or MS Messenger so that you can be berated by Steve Perriam (kheldar) for not turning it on ! - Details below...

Steve also does a sterling job by booking BarrysWorld servers for us to play on once or twice a week. BarryK then udermines that hard work by stuffing up the Admin and recently Norm spoils it by being too bl**dy good. (Not surprising if he skives all day at home playing, whilst some of us are at work ) The BarrysWorld sessions are also good for Steve to let some weekly stress out by having a good moan about his poor ping 'cos he wont get ISDN or ADSL like the rest of us

Currently I prefer podbot as the current version of realbot is kinda old now. It's only when realbot version 2 comes out (can't wait!!) will I then consider recommending realbot over podbot.

I got addicted to kingpin again recently (as I still find it such an amusing game to play and found it was less full of complete freaks!)and so have let my counterstrike skills slip.
