i allways need a bloody plugin, and i can never just download the plugin, i have to download all of soddin quick time or real media which then tries to take over my system..

why cant they **** off and just do it as an mp3!!!

I know exactly what you mean. I've now got my machine tamed. Real Player and Quicktime are on there, but they know their place

Get "Real Alternative" and "QuickTime Alternative" from www.free-codecs.com these install just the browser plugins and the decoder DLLs

They also optionally install a media player called "Media Player Classic" which as well as being the best media player ever has the ability to latch onto those DLLs and play back .rm and .mov without needing the player applications. Lastly it will not take or retake any file associations, you have to explicitly go into the options and tick them if you want it to do that.
