Question Night out in Reading - recommendations

Hi

Off out into Reading, Berks, for a good few ales and potentially clubbing of some sort tonight. Can anyone from the area offer some recommendations please on good pubs, clubs.

I don't fancy places that are too ponsy, chav'ed up. Music can be a mixture, but friends not really into house/dance music.

Cheers

Head down to The Oracle - you can go to Brannigans, Bar38, etc... They are all good, and I would say Brannigans being slightly better. They also do a deal before 9:30 for various drinks as well, so it can be a cheap place to start from.

Brannigan's = Meat Market - superb

Down the oracle is nice though, you got Bran's (open till 2), Bar 38 as scott says, there's a slug and lettuce, and a few other bars. Just by the station theres Baracuda's a kinda sports bar and Yate's and theres a Pitcher and Piano and a bar called Ice, which might be a bit ponced up for you, last time I was in there a hen night all dressed up as Cavegirls came in
Theres a few "clubs" - The Fezz Club, After Dark ( ) etc

Brannigans... you can't fail It is chavvy though!

You're bound to find something you like in the Oracle - there's loads to choose from.

No idea on Basingstoke - some people from work live there (and they defo do not fall in to the "Chav" spectrum) and they say there are some pretty decent places to go for an evening out.

lol @ Matt. Doesn't having Lexus lights on your motor make you a Chav??!
