Kids and scooters nowadays.....

now when i was a lad....i had a 125. This was around 1990 and i had a DT125. Now i knew this was just a learner bike and while i thought it cool enough i was under no illusions that i was going to be on KickStart that weekend!
so whats with all these scooters and pop pop bikes in GP colour schemes???? do these kids think they are cool...i assume so!
one that lives near me has a Honda with a stereo on it!!!!! the thing has massive base and an engine note like a lawn mower! another has neons!!! why cant they just have a litter learner and be done with it!

I had a Garelli Tiger followed by a FS1E. Now that was a speedy 50cc machine.55mph.
Moved on to Honda 125,yam 250,Suzi 550.Suzi750. Retired from bikes as needed to get leg over so bought a car.

Oh the days of rebuilding my Fizzy every other weekend. 65cc Bigbore kit and a Micron exhaust, thought it was the mutts nuts till winter came and I realised I needed 4 wheels and a roof. It would be worth a lot more than the £100 I paid for it.
Look at the for sale section at www.fs1e.co.uk

What was the difference in winter?
I used to race on Boxing Day in the snow and ice having to put my hands around a kettle after a race.
Summer bikers I ask you!

Good God (and off topic) the first bike i rode/learned to ride was an FS1E, four down gearbox so easy to operate. Was in metallic purple colour. Great bike. I had a 1980 (in '80) Suzuki TS50ER, with a itilian make (cannot remember which one) exhaust and a carb off of a RM 50 so effectivly derestricted, used to do 55 on the flat, Did 16k miles in 3 years. Moved onto a Yammy DT175 and then an IT175 (DT175 was re-registered as a 125 as i was a geezer!).
Saw an immaculate FS1E (with disk brake) at my local Tescos the other day, brought back some happy memories.

It's getting a bit mad round here too. One kid amusingly has took the silencer off his moped to make it louder (and theorectically faster).
Stupid thing is he took off the expansion chamber...durrr! So its slower. But when he rides past at 2:00am I feel like running out the house and pushing him off (I'm sure I could out run it).
Ahh I remember the days when I had my yamma 125DT. I had'nt a clue what the last owner did to it...but it would wheelie in 3rd gear

The new thing round here is quad bikes, road registered and totally learner legal. They dont even have to wear helmets.
They are 100cc and there seems to be more and more of them about.
I dont need to tell you how they ride them.

Are you on about the DT125MX (not the liquid cooled model)
They where easy to tune or it could be you had a 175 without knowing it, a lot of 175's got re-registered as 125 to get round the learner law, it was illegal but there goes.
The 175 had 18BHP as std and easly tuned to 23-25+. the 175 had the same barrel just different piston, conrod, to give the different capacity(this is from a distant memory mind). Lot of parts interchangable with the DT250 - carb was a fave swap also the IT175/YZ 125/175, the motorcross/enduro bikes.
DT250 carb, Bosyden reeds, 'boost' bottle and an uprated expansion pipe where the norm on a 125/175.
Had 2 DT's and an IT175, great bikes.
