out of interest why not BT ?

I've just ordered it through BT - I can't see the point in getting through a reseller, it just adds a middleman and slows down support surely ?

Thanks for the reply. I went from BT to Screeming net, (that then became worldonline) for my telephone line, as they offered, at the time free net calls. Since then I have stayed with them, as for me they offered a better deal than BT.

So today I took the plunge and ordered ADSL with them, so far they have been good IMHO.

I have heard that most broad band access is through BT anyway.

I have recently changed from Worldonline/screaming.net to NTL, because ADSL is not available in Swindon. NTL offer a cable modem service which is £24.99 including modem rental £15/month cheaper than the standard ADSL that I cannot get!. Might be worth checking what your local cable people can offer.

They're all presently managed services from BT. Your isp will just connect you to a convenient point on their network.

I've had DSL since March 00 thro' demon ( I was on the pre-release trial ). Couldn't go back to a modem now.

When it's working ADSL is great, but the implementation of the technology is a bit flakey. In just under 5 months of having it, I've had 14 days of complete outage. Whichever ISP you go through, you're still exposed to BT ****-ups.

O/T sorry...

Does anyone know of a good isp that support both surftime and dual ISDN channel bonding?

Cheers

Hi Gary

Thanks for that... but it says on their info page that dual channel access is not supported with surftime.

I have a feeling that BT have placed some kind of restriction on suftime itself.

I'm in the sticks so can't get ADSL or cable or anything. bloody pain!

Cheers

Doh! Sorry Simon, I didn't read the small print!

For what it's worth, I had ISDN for about 2 years with zero problems, stark contrast to my experience with ADSL so far.

My company offers dual channel ISDN but sadly only at 0845. So far every ISP who goes for free/v.cheap has died a death.
