Ouuccchhhhh - How to kill a 911
#1
This is how you destroy a 911 in one easy step. Imagine explaining this to the insurance company: 'Well, i was just going round a sweeping bend at about 30, when she just span...'

Oi, Beef, what's this taking my name in vain.
Having passed a fatac on the M1 yesterday - car being towed - in the fast lane - rope snaps - effing great big mess with at least ten cars involved - am now in two minds about these pics....
....not to mention sitting in a Little Chef years ago when a family - two young daughters - got in their car - I was about a quarter of a mile behind them - and their car fireballed - they did not get out

What actually happened yesterday on the M1?
I went past in the other direction at around 6pm and saw the police doing the dreaded measuring/photos, which generally means fatalities.

That's where I'm coming from. I think at best it's laughing at someone else's misfortune and at worst it's laughing at someone else's death/maiming/injury/...

Indeed, i went past that too. What went on? I'd be surprised if it wasn't caused by the same to55er in a new M3 that was barrelling through the slow moving traffic at about 110, weaving in and out like a madman, occasoinally getting the back end out. In traffic!
Where the hell are the rozzers when you need them? I saw at least 8 people have to brake REALLY hard because of him. And before you comment, it wasn't knicked because i saw the tool posing by it at the next services. Would've had a word, but he was f*****g massive, and i aint a small chap myself, so he was BIIIG. Still, what an @rseh0le.

I think looking at bad accidents should be part of the driving test. Too many people ignore what a ton of metal at speed can do when it all goes wrong. So long as people are not taking pleasure from others misfortunes, a gentle reminder of our own mortatlity doesnt hurt anyone.

Nobody ever thinks of the emergency crews either who have to clear up the mess, often of somebody's stupidity or bravado
My mum was an ambulance technician and some of the stories she brought back were nasty.
It is certainly fun to drive your car fast, drive like a loony, to show off to friends, but I am sure it is no longer funny when when you are responsible for the death of others and even yourself.

Like I say - M1 - from what I could see a car was being towed and the rope snapped - towed car out of control - lots of cars shunted.
One car had obviously been cut open by the fireboys. Lots of peeps looking stressed - about half a mile further North, on from the accident was a MY01 Scoob parked on the hard shoulder - I'm guessing but the female passenger looked very distressed.

PS Back to the original topic - if the driver walked away from this then - fair enough - I'm guessing not.

Looking at the cartoony drawings at the beginning of the 911 sequence, it suggests that both driver and passenger were thrown clear of the car.
I would think they are the ones that penned the drawings, suggesting they were in fact OK.

Having said that, in this picture it looks like they are on stretchers being covered up:

A six yr old boy died in the crash on the M1 that Trout was talking about

Makes u think dont it. 6 years old, how sad.

The problem with this site is that there is no information about the occupants of the cars. If there was a disclaimer saying "all drivers got away with minor injuries" then the site has a real entertainment value. People like seeing crashed cars but only when its metal and plastic destroyed, not humans
BUT
It doesn't, so in my opinion at least that means that people were killed or maimed in the accidents. And if you take pleasure from seeing that sort of thing then you really need your head looking at before you go out and kill someone "to see what it looks like" (I don't mean people here generally, I hope your all more sensible than that)
If you read the forum (of we.com), someone says how sad the site is and instantly people jump on him for having a conscence (sp). I wonder if they would be different if it was their 911, Lamborghini mother father etc etc etc
Richard
edit Juan. You're no longer allowed to tow any car with a rope. on ANY public road. You can only use the metal bars like the AA/RAC have. You can tow trailers on the motorway but up to a certain speed 50 IIRC.

Im 95% sure they changed the law a year or so ago. I THINK because the car being towed has no brakes assistance and can end up causing accidents (Wheres Burr when you need him? )

This one surprised me, and I would like to know if it is correct - I had a quick look at the dept of transport web sites, which aren't exactly the easiest to use, but couldn't find anything about towing a car with a rope. Does anyone know if the law has changed? I guess one way is to check if Halfords still sell tow ropes, it would be a bit off to sell them if you couldn't use them legally!
It is certainly an offence to use a tow rope which is too long (I don't know what the defn of too long is though)
What I did come across on the web site, is that you can't tow over 750 kg without additional training if you passed your test after 1st Jan 97! Luckily I'm a bit older than that so don't have to worry
Incidentally, the law on towing a trailer on the motorway, max speed is 60mph, and you cannot use the third lane.
