Default Found this in the boot!!! Any ideas???

Mate of mine is having a few problems with his car smelling of petrol when hes driving it hard. Seems to be ok when poodling round but as soon as you give it some stick it starts to smell. When we had a look at the pipewok we noticed this container in the boot!! Any ideas?
This is the container-

Thanks Matt.

IIRC the hoses are connected to the fuel filler neck - so prob to do with the EVAP system.

We have traced them and they do seem to come from the filler neck/tube!!! At first I thought it was something to do with the overflow but im not certain.
