Default Engine Knock at 4k

Hello all,

I have looked through pages of the forum, but not had any luck finding a similar problem...

I have a 98 Impreza Turbo, only had it for a month. During a bit of a vigourous drive yesterday, under hard acceleration in 4th, between 3-4k revs there was a sudden and shirt drop in power - almost like I had stamped on the brake for a second. There was no mechanical noise or backfire.

What does this sound like to you?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Daniel

OK thanks for the tip. However you'll have to excuse my ignorance with this one - I could do with more information on this fuel cut - is it a major or simple problem?

Cheers again for the help.

its over boosting and to try to prevent engine meltdown the ecu will cut the fuel.

Fuel cut is one of the engines ways of protecting itself from damage. You might have overboosted slightly. If it keeps happening, then get it checked out.
