Question read loads about fuel cuts boost cut

hear all the time about fuel cut and boost cut

i dont know what ecu the car has (and dont know how to find it )(under passenger seat ??)

it has a boost controler in the car which show boost and also a boost gauge (think its apexi controler)

but its been set at 1.2 and 1.5 since i have owned it

i have never had it loose revs hit and cut at all

other than when it went bang ages ago at 80 thousand miles

would pics help as i can do that tomorrow or in next few days .

this was all added years ago when it was imported

so not new stuff

a 95 wrx wagon

i know they meant to run .7 or .9 bar ??

full decat from turbo back and up pipe too .oem headers still though

not sure on the standard fuel cut on the 95 wrx wagon as I am usually in the footwell removing the original ecu to replace with another or fitting a daughter board to remap it.
The 95 WRX Wagon comes with a TD04 turbo, there is no point running 1.5bar on this, however we have no way of knowing if it still has the original turbo.. did you use the turbo that came on the car when you replaced / rebuilt the engine.
If work has been done on the engine / ecu / turbo etc in Japan it will be setup for Jap fuel so becareful with that boost setting..

The ecu is behind the passenger footwell carpet.. behind a metal kickplate, 3 10mm head bolts and a 10mm nut to remove etc.. would be worth removing and taking a picture..

Also a picture under the bonnet would estabilish if it is standardish or not.

A TD05

was mapped about 7 years ago at a place i dont like to mention as it rob the prev owner of good cash and never made more than 260 .was as i know mapped for tesco unleaded. so i think throwing super at it now and having the air fuel meter it never stays in same place .i will post pics asap simon and let ya sort out rest from there .

was rebuilt by Xtreme Scoobies .so any thing to make there rebuild unreliable would of been said i guess.(well i know i trust em )

will get pics up tomorrow mate

it got the coil packs if that helps for the time being

and as it goes for 1.5 i only used it a couple of times for the traffic light drag .

even got the old print out from rolling road too would that help

from your first post I thought you had bought it imported and knew nothing of the history...

if it has been mapped for the boost levels set in the boost controller then you won't hit boost / fuel cut.. also the standard map sensor on the early car (92~96) tops out at 1.23bar and therefore with boost contorl over that there is unlikely to be any fuel or boost cut.

ahh ok .i shall still get pics up for ya matey .

is there any point in getting a remap now (i know ya will be bias as ya do it )

i not worried on bhp torque figures etc .just a engine that will last me (cost a bloody fortune to get rebuilt)

sorry i forget that ya need as much info as possible

95 wagon wrx .full decat now and up pipe (double down pipe thingy) was only down pipe and back box when brought by myself .kn panel filter in origanal housing .washed every 4000 miles (still looks dirty though)
apexi boost controler thingy (little box with lcd desplay under ash tray )
boost gauge and air/fuel meter in pod on side of windscreen

so other than mid section decat and up pipe its as when it was 1st brought by myself .it has always run 1.2 bar normal and if i press another button on boost controler thingy it goes to 1.5 .

was all set up on a rolling road .

been told it a td05 hybrid evo .dont belive this too be true thou

I wouldn't say it needed one if I thought it didn't etc..

one concern is, every engine is slightly different - tollerances, components etc so ideally it should be checked when you change / rebuild the engine.

Also you mention mods since you bought it and therefore since it was mapped.

going back 7years was Tesco 99 super about? don't think so, so mapped on Tesco 95ron or 97ron? some gains to be had by using tesco99 or Shell vpower and a remap to suit.
