Default New Turbo recommendations

Hi I have a 2004 Subaru WRX STI uk type and my turbo packed in the other week so I need to buy a new. The one that was on was a cheap eBay one which the previous owner put on. I have been recommended a couple but they will set me back a good £1000. I was looking at a kinugawa which were cheaper but I was wondering if they are any good?
I'm hoping to order a new turbo this week so any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks

if your changing turbo then you will need a remap to suit if its not the same as what was on there before

a good upgrade would be an sc36

I was told it was all re mapped for a new turbo with 350bhp but he also said it was a garrett but the is no marks on it what so ever to tell me what it is. I was told to get a IHI vf34 which I have been considering. The kanigawa has had a lot of recent good reviews on other sites and I've only seen one bad but I was wondering if anyone else has used one.

Could it not be rebuilt if it's a garret turbo?

I have been told it's not a garret as it would have it engraved on it and have some sort of serial number but this has nothing my mechanic reckons it's a cheap eBay one that are going for about £160

Kinugawa are a proper firm and sell genuine items not cheap Chinese crap.

I suggest you fit a turbo that is suitable to your spec or one that will meet your target bhp and mod your car to suit.

A remap is a necessity for all options
