Hi.
As title, I`ve just got a sti tmic for my td04 hybrid mod; its previous turbo seems to have shat a seal into it, so it is quite oily internally at the y pipe end.
How best to clean this out; swill with petrol, carb cleaner ? I posted this in car care, but no one goes there and I need an answer so that I can crack on.
Thanks

Any decent de-greaser should do it. Just cap off 1 end, pour some in and slosh it round a bit. Might be worth letting it sit for a while before you empty it, then just flush with clean water and allow to dry.

As said brake cleaner, petrol, methanol, ethanol, anything really!
Any of the above should do. Just make sure you let the ic drain and let all the vapours out of it before you fit it back to the car.
Otherwise your end up getting a big pop out the exhaust and maybe a bit of rough running for a few seconds...
Since upping the boost on my car the vacume in the turbo inlet pipe started to literally suck oil out of the crank case and into the intake track and ic.
Ideally you will need a catch can or air oil separator to cure it.
