With 128 MB of RAM, XP will crawl! I wouldn't even attempt to run XP with less than 256 MB - I'd stick with Win2000 if I were you.

2000 will chug in 128MB too. Maybe a bit quicker than XP but either would be painfull.

A visit to www.crucial.com/uk to pony up another 128MB of RAM would make a big difference to the P3 500.

I ran a 233 MHz PII laptop for ages (until someone dropped it ) with just 128 MB RAM and W2K on. It wasn't fast, but it was usable if you didn't try and do too much at once. Basic surfing was fine, even AutoRoute ran OK on it.

Standard build at work for a laptop running W2K (or XP) is to put in 512Mb RAM - tells you all you need to know.

The more modern the operating system, the more memory it needs to run comfortably. I find the following comfortable...

Win9x = 64MB

Win2k = 256MB

WinXP = 512MB
