Question

I've an Adaptec 2940 PCI card + Nikon Coolscan (or any scanner) & attempting to run on Windows 2000 (Professional or Adv Server).

Now the device is recognised by W2K & drivers installed. It is correctly connected & terminated. I have Adaptec latest W2K drivers & Nikon latest drivers.

The device is available to select/scan BUT once selected reports that no scanning devices are connected

Nikon help said that I should d/load aspi32 from Adaptec but this specifically says that it will NOT work with W2K. Adaptec knowledgebase backs this up & says its aware of other SCSI manufacturers sending peeps to their website to d/load aspi32 & DON'T DO IT

They don't offer any solution either but report that W2K doesn't use the aspi architecture/layer any more.

Obviously going back to Nikon tomorrow but has anyone out there any knowledge of this problem & better still offer me either advice or a solution to the problem?

Please help as I am loathe (& skint) to get rid of a perfectly good scanner to replace it with a new one.

This is doing my swede in

Thanks

Goto http://www.deja.com

Do a search on something like...

"Nikon" + aspi + "coolscan" + "windows 2000"

Loads of people reporting installing the Adaptec ASPI driver fixed it even though Adaptec say it doesn't work.
