got 2k pro on my system in work,

previous in ME, had a shared folder that folks couuld see on the WORKGROUP.

basicall kept a load of usefull files on here / updates if anybody needed them.

In the old days simply right click, shared full and away you go.

Upgraded to W2k pro, tried the same added all permissions everybody everything I could find yet when somebody in the network on a 98 machine etc tries to access the folder it prompts them for a password,

any ideas (w2k pro lamer here)

On your W98 PC's, check that under the Network properties, it's set to obtain a list of users and groups from your DC.
