Why Did I Re-install???

This is the first time I have re-installed Windows XP on my computer. I knew I would have a few Problems but this is a joke. Now my problem is my keyboard. Some of the keys are not working correctly, for example the Poud sign does not work when I press shift and 3 and I can only get a @ sign when I press Shift and 2. This icon is normally on the right side of the keyboard. It was working before I re-installed and yes before anyone asked my laguage settings are for the UK, So what have I done wrong???

What I would do is check the regional and keyboard setting in the control panel. If shift and 2 is giving you the @ sign it is setup as a US keyboard. I have an XP machine at work so I can have a more detailed look tomorrow if your still stuck.
