Last batch for now....

You can see the nice clean edge of the tunnel where the stone chip finishes.

Also I've painted the sump...

I have to add in all honesty I knew it would look nice but I was not expecting this, I've been working on this at home 7 days a week for months now, all my prep work and what I think I can admit to project management came to a point and that was last Monday. I've been putting in 20-25 hours a week into this from the early part of this year and it has taken over my mountain biking and my pool nights for two and I will be pleased now to get back to some sort of normality here soon.

Serious graft Si....

Serious results. Be proud mate, I'd be more than proud of what you've achieved and your quality of finish. Money can't buy you taste, this is perfection.

Thanks Frayz I really appreciate that, I have put a lot of thought into this resto and the colour scheme, I went for grey so it will not show the dirt like the black OEM would plus it simply works with white perfectly I feel and then the silver drops into it as its the same colour spectrum.

Looking at your car and the pictures of mine gets me thinking - my wife's going to hate you and she doesn't even know you exist

Thanks micky.... It's been a demanding 8 months but now I know it was worth it, it was very difficult to understand what the finish would be like until this week as well. There will still be work to complete on it but when it's on the road and home things will be so much easier.

Thanks Ryan, I appreciate your looking at it with a painters eye there so it's great to hear you like it. Maybe and I use the word maybe if you decide in the future when your all sorted and things are calmer if you want to look at doing another a simple restoration with little modification like this could be a good route for you to consider. Choose the right model and its all dare I say basic work for you.

The garage that's doing a lot of the work has set up a Facebook page this week and have added a few pics of the build, there is a discussion that the next project could follow the same vain as mine but be a Porsche, the owner of it was there today looking over mine and discussing what was involved. I think they are seriously considering offering this sort of restoration package to customers.

Let me just say I'm comfortable with it and also with it in its breakdown of individual sections. I was very lucky with the shell it was in really good condition in many respects even though it was rusty it was not to deep and excessive which helped a lot with the shell work.
Fair enough. I understand.

It has come up extremely well. It's a testament to the hours that have been put into it.

Thanks Lee, I thought you may like it that's why I kept the rest of the pictures away from you when you said you did not realise there was a thread
I've been very lucky and sussed out a few very good people for the separate parts of the job, all coming together well now. Don't worry I never imagined this either

No show and shines Ian I've retired from that but it will be great to have a nice clean car free from all the scab etc you get from an older one and it will be easy to look after and an enjoyment to drive as well, that's what I'm looking forward to is using it... That's why I've taken advise and stepped up the quality on the bushes, engine and gear box mounts and gear box linkage, I'm hoping it will handle better than any I have driven combined with the RA set up

It's nearly finished! I bet you can't wait!

Have you prepped the garage in readiness for it's arrival?

Me to Glenn, it was on plan but I never got around to it... I was intending on bringing the sump home to do originally but never got it together

Yes that's the one, he also kicked them out a little but not really noticeable which is nice, certainly transformed the look of it, he has a couple of bits to do now and decide on what the front is going to look like, ill stick some pics up if you want, didn't want to just whack them up

I can't wait to see the car up close and personal, the pictures look superb so seeing it in the flesh im sure will be a treat I may have to take a trip down and act like a pervert
