DIY 550bhp 2.5 STI V3 Type R
OK Now that I've sorted my head out I'm going to get the car to a point where I really can do no more on it.
After seeing Duncan's bonnet scoop on his car I decided to have a go myself. So tonight I set to it. Fortunately the girlfriend works for one of the one of the UK's largest engineering firms. So she had a friendly word with the old boy that runs the stores and he managed to get me some ali sheet that was set for the scrap man. I couldnt believe it when he came back with a sheet that was 6ft by 4ft
I got him to chop it into bits small enough toto get into the back of the golf but big enough to do pretty much anything with. He also said there's plenty more there if I want it too
I also got about 12 ft of steel bar for any brackets that I may need to knock up.
Not only that but he lent me a transformer and a load of cutting tools so happy days!!
Anyway here's my first attempt its still a work in progress but I'm quite pleased so far

Will hopefully get the rest of it done tomorrow evening.

I tried and failed
Although it was a valiant attempt considering all I had was basic cutting tools and no folding machine I didn't think it was too bad. However up close the folds aren't straight and to be honest it looks a bit of a homemade ****up which of course is exactly what it is. I think I'll just bite the bullet and buy the RCM one although I'm gutted as I would have had Tim's off him straight away if I'd have seen it in time!!
Anyway here's a picture of my very poor effort I couldn't even be bothered to bolt it on properly as I'd already made my mind up that its going in the bin!!

Still a work in progress and needs tidying up but I've finally decided on where and how my oil cooler is to be mounted. I've been and bought a big meaty vice today so I can make some brackets and stuff. Quite happy with the result.
It will all look nicer once ive tidied it all up but so far so good.
