I decided to get rid of all the clutch related Crap today and tidy everything up a bit.

First to go was this unecessary rubbish.



Replaced with a much shorter simpler length of braided line. I need to secure it to the body work but a simple P clip will suffice.



I tidied the oil cooler up a bit as it was given to me by a mate that used it on his beautiful Hand Built Spondon (175bhp / 165kg)






I also thought I'd capture this. The first time my boy has sat in the car. I think he liked it

I've got an awesome supplier of that stuff five miles down the road from me. He does all my silicon hoses, fuel line, oil lines and fittings for me.

I'm just about to post up about the brake lines I got from him yesterday.

Normally I go and buy the lengths of hose that I need and he gives me the fittings and I fit them. However some stuff neededs to be swaged on so he does that for me.

The brake lines I replaced a while back have annoyed the crap out of me from day one. As the copper came coiled up in a bag I've never been able to get the lines straight and thus looked horrible so I decided to replace them today, properly!

Real nice and tidy and looks far far better than the crooked copper lines I had in before.

I also realised that I forgot to put some pictures up of the front mount turbo oil return I had to make.

I'm using a twin scroll sump so first I needed to drill that and weld a boss for a -8 fitting.

Yes I went a bit too far with the heat gun on the heat shrink. But other than that its perfect.

Another couple of jobs done today.
Oil cooler lines. I still have the lines from the block to the remote filter to sort out as I'm waiting for some 180 degree - 10 fittings to turn up. However I managed to get the lines from the cooler to the thermostat done.

Even though I get a bit blase as I see the car every day I think its really starting to look quite nice. I'm happy with the progress i'm making put it that way.





I've used Clive's billet 35R today to work out where to place a couple of things. I like how it looks so I'm pinching it ( sorry fudge )

 

All coming together now matey !.

By the way, ya washer bottle is filthy !!

 

Looks like I'll have to stick to Pirtek then, as i dont think there is anywhere like that around me - was thinking about converting all by copper brake lines into braided lines.

 

LOL I know, it's a disgrace. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet.

Stick it in the big white parts washer that most people have located in their kitchen.

 

Looks superneat Daz . I know how time consuming it is making up lines and trying not to scratch expensive anodised fittings. Trying to tidy up a subaru engine must be the hardest job in the world .

 

A good couple of days on the car.

First up was to sort the power steering lines out.

This is the OEM line which has seen better days so I decided to replace the lot.



A visit to my local supplier resulted in these being nade up for me.

Also decided to tidy the PS pump and resevoir up as it was looking propper tatty.

Crinkle black to the rescue. Was pleasantly surprised by how well it turned out.



So the header tank got the same treatment.



Fuel lines have been done.


So the engine bay is now all but ready.

All that needs doing is a catch tank and the intercooler pipework and were good to go just about.

I'm just waiting on an ECU and for Mark to either return or replace my 1100cc injectors he borrowed at TOTB and it's ready for turning the key

I have been up Silverstone today doing some track time on the new GP circuit (great track) and was talking to a guy who knows you !

I've already ordered Old Clive's replacement turbo. It turned up on Saturday morning.



Frayz, it was difficult enough getting everything to fit I'm certainly not going to change it all for another housing and then going through it all again. I'm also not worried about the weight on the manifold the steel thats been used is 3mm thick its man enough for the job

Finally, Simon AKA Jolly Green Monster is doing the mapping. ECU has been ordered and I've booked mapping for the 28th but hopefully if all goes to plan it will be a bit sooner.

We shall see what happens in the next couple of weeks but yes I'm getting proper excited now.

 

That turbo looks much better for the old fella, the idea of giving him 700bhp did scare me somewhat
