The engine's in!!!

A dummy one anyway.

Finally got round to throwing a dummy engine together so I could get a better idea of what needs doing in order for me to get this from mount turbo kit mounted. To be honest, now I've had a throrough look at it I don't think it's going to be as difficult as I first thought.

So here's how I started the day with removing the slam panel support bar.

Dummy Engine in place

Front Mount Manifold

Manifold bolted on

Turbo and manifold in situ

Here is the clearance I currently have:

The intercooler will need to move forward by a couple of inches to allow room for a custom rad.
This is roughly what I need to cutaway and I will be able to retain my OE grill aswell

All the kit including exhaust etc. I need to get the grinder out to make room for the screamer pipe. Although that needs work as its just a length of unsilenced pipe and its going to be as noisy as hell.

Another trip to RCM today.

I've bought some Supertech double valve springs, titanium retainers, some stainless spring seats which are about 2mm thick and some Cosworth 0.78mm stopper Head Gaskets. The gaskets are being sent on when they've been reamed for the larger head studs.

Here's some pictures of the valve train stuff

I'm absolutely loving this thread Daz as your giving me all the fun without any of the expense.
It's nice to see it all coming together so well, hope to catch up with you again at Brands if your coming down.
I'll ask Skull to keep me informed.
My complements on your project and when you have finished we need to discuss your future employment LOL.
Kind regards Hugh.

Thanks Hugh it's nice to read some positive encouragement

Funny you should say about future employment though Hugh. I got made redundant last week and with only 14 months service it looks like I'm getting a months pay in lieu of notice and thats it. Not the best timing regards to me wanting to finish the car for the summer

That's not quite enough to finish your project off with.
Well now would be an ideal time for someone to commission you to build a blue print engine. Any takers.
But on a more serious note I'm sure that it wont be long before your expertise is gamefully employed again.
Now let me see if I rob my sons piggy bank, collect the loose change from the car and rob a bank I'll have enough.

Completely agree Steve, we found the Cosworth heads, valves and cams worked very well in our 2.5 engined project cars. The top end is awesome with 600+hp from 5500 to 8000 and beyond.
Coming along nicely Daz

The problem of the white grill has been well and truly resolved today as well as where and how to mount the radiator and intercooler.

Voila!!

And finally with the grill in situ which will be meshed when finished.
