one thing to remember is dont go too cheap on tyres, i had a 4wd golf before and got 4 tyres for £170, thought it was great, but the side walls were to flexy and the grip was awful in the dry but especially in the wet, it made me not want to drive the car after a while and i ended up diching them for better tyres so cost more in the long run, and a scooby will have more power, remember the tyre is the only thing that contacts the tarmac not much more than the surface area of 4 credit cards for the whole car, its up to you but i wouldnt go really cheap again.

Check ebay, got a Continental sport contact 2 for a GTO recently with 6.5mm tread for £35 delivered. Tyre is excellent. I'd rather a part worn performance tyre with 6+mm tread than a no name super cheap.
