Default ZZ3 Tyres

I was wondering what people who have had Avon ZZ3 tyres fitted to their WRX's think of them. I dont normally stray from manufacturers recommendations, but the potenzas are covering 8000miles before needing replacing. I cover 2000 miles per month and my tyres need changing again, but a friend of mine is a test driver for avon and can get me 4 No. tyres of the ZZ3 for £200. This seems a fair price compared to the £140 a corner which the potenzas cost. ZZ3's retail at £110 a corner.

Are the ZZ3's up to much???????

Regards,

Roger

Yes mate,i had a full set on my MY01 and they where by far the best tyre that i ran in my 2 years with the car.

As good as the GSD3 Goodyears but cheaper, as for Toyo's (Dont even go there).

Over the Potenzas I think you can expect less tram lining, more progressive break away (ie easier to control if you ever slide / skid) and also harder wearing. Dry grip probably similar. My Avons are very new and I haven't been out in the rain much but they have been fine in the damp - the Potenzas I had were never very good in the wet. At £50 a corner you won't get better IMHO. The Potenza is not worth £140, there are a number of superior tyres for less money.

I put ZV3's on my Type RA which I use for sprinting, ( Dealer had run out of ZZ3's) . They are outstanding in the wet, so ZZ3's should be even better. My 911 has ZZ3's and I use it for track days,100% confidence which is what you need in one of these tail happy toys. All previous comments support this, a bargain for £200. Go and get now.
