Question

Sorry for posting a silly question, but:

My boss has a scooby and he doesn't care how long his tyres last and cost, he only wants the best grip in wet conditions.

I do care of how long they last and cost but also want the best grip for wet.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
KSY

Best in the wet would be Goodyear F1 or Bridgestone S03 in my opinion

I've seen this point a few times before, thanks.

Any other opinions?

And how long do F1s usually last, when driven normally?

Don't know how long F1's will last but the inverted V pattern is just incredible for clearing water, aqua planning is a thing of the past with them. Couldn't believe the difference after having original Bridgestones replaced. Actively look for puddles to push it to the limit. No once has it aqua planned.

I found SO3's to be a shockingly bad tyre, I really rated the SO2's in the wet and the dry, but when I put SO3's on my Lotus and Jaguar they performed shockly bad. I sold the Lotus and changed the Jag tyres to P-Zero Nero's after 2000 miles which are 100 times better IMHO.

I've got F1's on my RA and these seem to grip very well in both the wet and the dry and remind me off the old SO2's that I had on my old EVO.

Dom.

Friend with a golf went from old style F1 to SO3, went back to the F1`s after about 2 weeks. The SO3 were that bad!

I think the SO3 was designed (and costed) for OEM applications IMHO.....

F1's are cracking in the wet. I've got the older (DS-02?) with the more rounded v-shape. Not had any experience of the new ones with the straighter Vs.
Not sure on life yet, but I'd guess at 12-15k.

Dunlop SP9000's came out very well for wet weather grip in a magazine's extensive tyre test.
