Question Alignment after new dampers

I need to get new dampers fitted to the front of my 2001 wrx . The main dealer says it doesn't need the alignment after they've been fitted but two independents say it does . Who's right ?

Strange thing is the main dealer is the cheapest of the lot to suppy and fit them if you ignore the cost of the alignment so they'll be fitting them , it's just whether I need the alignment after .

I can't see how they can avoid altering the current geo when everything is attached to the damper. The camber bolts are used to attach the wheel hub to the damper for example

I would insist it's re-aligned.

Thanks Ozzy . Must admit I couldn't see how it could be any other way but they seemed very sure that it didn't need to be done . Think I'll get them to do the dampers and someone else to do the alignment .

Agree with all of the above - you MUST have the alignment done afterwards.

Unless the dealer marks the position of the camber bolts on the damper / hub mounting before removing dampers, and refits exactly to the marks on assembly.
Might get away with it, due to the large tolerences allowed by Subaru!
If you've had it set up properly - 4 wheel camber / alignment etc. then best to get it done again.,

Came across this while researching dampers as I am in need.

My geometry was only done a couple of months ago (at Powerstation), sounds like it will need to be done after the damper change
