Did you have this fitted as an option top an existing Clifford alarm or was it a new install? I have an Autowatch Alarm which is OK but I would like blackjax..

It was a new install for the Clifford Blackjax as the car came from Subaru with the standard Cat1 Sigma.

You can use it as an extra immobiliser ,but it's main use is as an anti-hijack device. If someone drags you out of your car or tries to nick it while you are in it , it lets them drive about 100 yards and then cuts the engine and flashes the brake lights and sets off a seperate siren either inside or out.The theif has no choice but to get out and leave it ,so you can just walk back get your car.

HYP1C, I'm very tempted to get this. My rex has a tracker but I worry about my wife and kid being carjacked.
I appreciate we must avoid detailing how alarms work on this site as some excrement-brained villain may read it but:
1) If you opened the door with the engine running and therefore it immobilised soon after, is it east enough to recode it thus avoiding beig stuck in traffic? (Y/N) no details required!)
2) If someone breaks into your house and nicks keys, can it be started, or is there always a keypad entry.
3) Does it entail another fob on keys?
Perhaps you would prefer to email me direct with answers?

1. YES
2. NO + (YES TO THE KEYPAD BIT ,BUT IT IS A PLAIN PAD,SO NO CLUES ARE GIVEN AWAY)
3. NO
I had the system on my previous car ,an Evo6 and 2 guys jumped in at the lights, after a bit of a tussle I got out ,then waited all of 1 minute before the car cut out and the d***heads ran off with my maglite ,which they then used 1/2 an hour later to beat a guy senseless and nicked his Merc .But I obviously retained my car ,so the £30 maglite was a small price to pay. I know you should drive with your doors locked ,so hence on the Scooby I have the alarm set to lock the doors as soon as the engine starts.
I think the Clifford Blackjax is ideal for anybody who is worried about there Mrs + kids.
Cheers
Gary

Just had IMMOBILISER UPGRADE fitted as warranty to MY01.
Has anti Hijack mode as descibed above.
Works in conjunction with original immobiliser.
Keypad must be entered everytime prior to starting or it wont start.
BRILLIANT

I had a blackjax fitted yesterday for £160 all-in, very happy with it - no problems, and I am now slightly more at ease with security etc

Usual fitting time is @ 3 - 4 hours. It has to be wired into the injectors etc.

Well, I don't know max personally but he's been prepared to answer some of my questions by email and from that I know that he knows his stuff. Enough people I respect on here recommend him so you know he does a good job. Now, that's not to say that the other place don't do as good a job BUT:

The MOST IMPORTANT thing with such complex pieces of kit is the installation. Find someone who you trust and has a good reputation and as long as the cost is comparable (lets face it 30 quid is less than a tank of fuel) then go with it.

Kryten - Couldn't agree more. Max has an excellent reputation that's fully justified IMHO. Certainly, the work that he's done on my MY02 WRX is second to none.
