Default Help, whats this plug please ?

Deeper into the rabbit hole I go.

So ive pulled the panel below the steering wheel to get to the reflash connectors and have found a bodge with the boost gauge wired with three core house hold wire.

The live for the gauge is spliced into a plug with a metal bracket that is floating around under there.

Can any one tell me what the plug is please ?

tip of screw driver points to it.

That looks like a Bug......why are you fiddling around looking for the "reflash connectors" ? the plug up above the screwdriver looks like the OBDII port where all the action should be.

yep its a bug wrx. Ive had her about 7 months and I am only just getting time to get to know her a little better. Winter is my busy time at work.

No not the Obd2 port put the plug with the metal bracket. The tip of the screwdriver points to it.

Maybe for a keypad ? for an alarm ?

As to why the access to the reflash connectors that's a another tale.

Not sure what the Plug is, sorry. I'll have a look at my bug tomorrow.

Just wondering why you don't use the OBD II port for diagnostics as that is what it's designed for. You cannot reset the DENSO ECU by any other means apart from via the OBD II port........

Not sure what "reflash" connector you mean........you read the ECU EPROM from the OBD II port with ecuEDIT or DeltaDash and the like.

By connecting the reflash connector I can read the rom on the ecu via the obd2 port.

I thought that the Jumper block was required for writing to the ECU and not for reading it.....are you thinking of doing some DIY mapping?

It needs jumping to read it. The rom can be altered and then written back.

No not exactly. I was told it was mapped when I bought it but feel I was told porkies. The fact I can read the rom means the ecu is not locked as it would be via an Ecutek remap. It could have been done open source but the image looks to be standard. As I can compare the trims to standard.

The RR print out says Dastek But as far as I can find they only do piggy back ecu's and I cant find one of them either hence wandering if that plug was non standard, but it looks oem to me.

I wire up ecu's as a hobby. Did a 20vt into a caddy with Dta s60 a couple of weeks back for a guy but I am no mapper.

But having read the rom I can turn of the Dlc for the Egt and write it back so I don't get a cel every time I go 70 ish with a decat

Like I say I am getting to know her a little better. At 12 years old she has her secrets.
cheers.

As I say just curious, I learn something new every day

Don't you want to turn off P0420 to avoid a CEL for the de-cat and not the EGT sensor?
