Default wiring oil pressure/temp gauge

need help on where to put the sensors that come with gauges, I have bought a t piece in the hope that both the pressure and temp gauge can both come from the same place, if so where is the easiest if not help please. I already have the power source so the gauges light up nice, but at the mo they don't do much else. they are prosport by the way.

The correct place for both is as follows:

Pressure: samer place as the OE sender for the o/p switch, it's on the block just under the alternator. I've done away with the OE switch and put the o/p sender there, some people use a T-piece and have both.

Temperature: on top of cylinder No3, which is the rear one, o/s. There is a plug in there which gets removed. You need an adaptor for it for most senders, whoever sold you the gauges will prob have one.

The plug you need to remove is on top of No3 cylinder, as stated above.
No3 cylinder is the rearmost cylinder, driver's side, as stated above.
So: look down on TOP of the engine, driver's side, just in front of the intercooler and the turbo inlet, and you'll see a flat plug about 25mm across with an 8mm hex hole in it. You need a LONG Allen key to get it out. Your adpator goes in there, with PTFE tape wrapped around it, and your sender in the adaptor.

Since No3 cylinder is known as the one that runs hottest, that's where Subaru designed in to put the sender

i've just fitted my gauges & was thinking of getting a t-piece for the oil pressure to keep the OE sender as i thought it's needed, but can i just do away with it can i as it saves me buying 1 & i can wire it all in now
i do have a sandwich plate but have been told that the best readings for oil temp & pressure are where you said mate

You don't NEED the sender for the OE switch, that switch is set at under 14psi, or under 1 bar. If your oil pressure gets that low, you already have a problem

I've seen it done, it gives an accurate reading, so shouldn't be a problem, but it's not necessary.
Your choice, though

Anyone used the oil pressure adapters which have a braided line which screws into the same place as the OE switch?
I've been told they are unreliable & break or even leak???
Anyone confirm?

I used on when I first fitted an oil pressure gauge as was in my early years of Subaru and not as confident as I am now. It worked okay and did not leak. The main issue is securing it. Then extending the wiring to allow connection, you will also need to make a earth connection lead from where the sender units fit to the engine block. Your better option would be to contact Scoobyclinic to get one of their adapters as I did when I replaced my gauges for a better set. If you do go for this adapter it is easier to remove the alternator for ease of access.

Thanks 360ste. Will be in touch with Scoobyclinic today.
I just don't have any confidence in the "LMA" ones.

Thanks again for the info!!

Have a look at my project thread. The braided extension is great and there are several mounting locations. Get it as long as you can for better options. I used the bolt on the inlet manifold.
