snow/winter tyres
Ok i know its a bit early yet but i have a spare set of wheels with eagle f1s on 2 almost new but 2 are quite low and was thinking of swapping for snow tyres and put them on when the cold weather kicks in, anyone used them and did they make that much difference? my only other idea was swap the 2 low ones for just new cheapies so they all have decent tread depth or is that pointless??
cheers pete

I got some winter tyres last year, and was amazed how well they work!! On pure snow it isn't like normal driving still, but 99% better than my summer Eagle F1's.
I have a spare set of alloys like yourself, and put the winter tyres on them.....and will be putting them back on my car late November time.
I'd deffo get some winter tyres on mate!

I run on Skoda Octavia vRS all weather tyres in winter, with this car has been pain to drive in winter and very dangerous.
My friend in Czech Republic worked for Matador and Barum and told me that:Winter tyres have different composition of tyre(silica),which freeze on lower temps that All Weather Tyres, and your benefit is have better traction(on snow and ice) and better braking on snow, ice or if outside temps drop under 0 Celsius.
In Slovakia or Czech republic you must have winter tyres in winter, because if you crash car with summer or all weather tyres, your insurance its de facto trashed(dangerous driving) and if you are stopped by police you have big problem for dangerous driving.
