Default Tell me it will be ok!

Two months into ownership got my first issue. Just pulling into the car park and got a funny smell through the air vent followed by fair bit (not clouds) of steam. Luckily had just parked it, popped the bonnet and can see fair bit of water around the radiator. Most of the coolant gone from the tank as well. I checked it before I left and it was fine. Hopefully its just and split hose or something. Thing thats got me worried is I gave it some beans beforehand, with a mile or two slow driving to cool it down, hope I havent broke anything to pricey!

Please someone tell me it will be fine!

If it's just a slit pipe and you dint lose all water then you should be fine, I did a 300mile trip and stoped 75miles short of destination, the wife wanted to stop I dint. Started the car up to find loads of steam and water spilling from the hose at the top of rad. 3hrs later AA came and fixed in five mins. Thanks to the wife or this could have been worse if I was still on the motorway.

Fingers crossed, I had it turned off literally seconds after the steam appeared. Couldnt really see where it was from as it wasnt light. Will have to have a proper look after I've had few hours kip.

Hi Rob its a 2002 bueye wrx saloon. Had a look in daylight and the top hose is split to the radiator. (phew). Of to the local car aladinns cave in the morning to see if they have one. If not thinking of a set of samcos or similar. Car is dark blue (mica I think its called), under the bonet is a K&N typhoon with red hard pipe, what opinions do people have regards colour of hoses??

Do I go blue to match the car or red to match the K&N??

Dont feel like such a scooby virgin now I've had a problem!
