Anyonelove ford capri's?
Had one of these in the mid 90's and have to say......best fun car ive ever had.
It was only a £270, 1.6l crap heap, but the safe(slow) fun that can be had with these cars is awsome.
If ever there was a car to learn the art of rear wheel drive, its this car.
There street cred was terrible(may still be ) but just dont care....the driving position and **** end fun is to die for.
Have been looking recently on piston heads about getting a 2.8 (maybe even the rare turbo version if it comes up)
There certainly becoming a classic and prices seem to have raised a bit..........just wondering if theres any other 30 somethings that cherish this motor?

I had a Capri in the 70's!!
My Brother had a 3.0S - my Brother in law had a 2.0S - I had a 2.0GL in Roman Bronze metallic with a tan vinyl roof and interior
I must admit it was entertaining in the snow and ice .... but I had already become a superb driver decades earlier in the Cortina's with Cross-Ply tyres!

Ford Capri MK1's, i rallied one on tarmac & forest events for years in the late 80's, it always put a smile on your face, as it was always sideways & made a change to all the Escorts, it was next to useless for traction on gravel events, but i did get several top ten places on tarmac once slicks were fitted.
The noise of the triple webers & the wail of the V6 was awesome.

Nice 1 guys......
I always remember about that bag of sand in the boot thing to make it stable....
So the 2.8i was quicker than the 3.0 yeah?
Tbh,not that fussed about speed with these cars as the rediculas handeling is what makes them unique.......
I can proberbly find that capri turbo info if anyone is interested.

i love the old capri's still miss my last one, had over ten of them started with a 2.0s, 3.0s then a 3.5rover v8 one,got bored of that and built a 4.0tvr v8 and put that in lol, sure enough soon wanted more and had pushed the rover v8 about as for as i could so put a 5.0litre small block ford v8 and tremec gearbox, discs all round, cosworth blue, black leather inside etc etc made on to a dvd sold in halfords called fastest fords, still look for that car on ebay to this day.

My uncle had the john player special in the black and gold.
And i remember the professionals, Bodie and Doyle driving one and an Escort RS and they were never driving in the direction that they needed to, so they always had to do the old handbrake turn. imagine the professionals and Starsky and Crutch driving along the same road, it would be mayhem.
Other famous Capri owners were Cliff Richard Ron Dixon from Brookside. Class!!!!!!!

I had in 2002 a A reg 2.8i special in white that had done only 16,000 miles when I bought it. It was mint and I sold it two years later for a huge profit to a concours guy. At the same time I had a caspian blue 2.8i that I smoked around in if it was raining, and a yellow MKIII RS1600i that was featured in Fast Ford and Classic Ford.
I loved my Fords, but then moved onto BMW's and Alpina's, and then saw the light and bought my Impreza, happy day's
Does anybody remember the yellow X pack Capri that had a 24v Cosworth engine fitted. Saw it at the Bromley Pageant and fell in love

Ah memories."The Ford Capri, the car you always promised yourself"-i think the advert went...
My dad had one in the 80's-a green 3.0s with fishnet recaros.I still remember the reg-GHP 818T.Don't think think he could afford it though,as a few months later,it was replaced by an Austin Princess-oh,the humiliation!
I've had three.My first car was a 1.6L-OAB 971T.Then i had a mark 2 2.0s-YEA 285S,this was fitted with a mark 3 face lift.
A few years later,i paid £1750 for a nimbus grey mk 3, 2.0 laser-C35 JDA.
I won a competition in the early days of max power and had a flowed head with high lift cams fitted.Had Dellorto twin 45's ,electric windows and central locking fitted.Had the princess 4 pot brake conversion as well for the woeful brakes as well as various suspension modifications to get the wayward handling sorted-think it was called the Scorpion x-frame which bolted onto the suspension legs somewhere.
I imported some 15" MIM Alpine wheels from Italy to finish it off-God i loved that car!!!
I was a member of the Capri club international back in the day(probably still got all of the books in the loft!!!) and went to a few of the shows at Stoneleigh...
Yeah,i know i'm a sad ba$tard,but i was living the dream
Always wanted one of the 1038 Brooklands 280s though

I had a red 2.0 ltr S reg no WGJ 919W ,which i changed the twin choke webbers for twin 40 dellorto's. It was a fun car and in the winter i would put 2 x 55 lb sacks of potatoes in the boot to try and keep the backend more stable - still didn't work .lol.It was good fun in 1989
