Default a good way to spend £5K

Hi i have a 95 STI, it currently has the turbo boosting at 14 psi. it was like that when i bought it. im a complete novice to scoobys. im used to skylines. so in a way this is a step down for me. as this is my first scooby. i want to treat it right.

im prepared to go up to £5k, as i know from skylines when you spending that kinda cash you go straight for a turbo. but im not sure the koo with scoobies so any advice and parts ideas would be very welcomed and even and estimate of cost all the way up to 5k would be awsome. it does have aftermarket suspention on it. they are adjustable from the top but not coilovers. it also has a litchfied exhaust system with decat

so what im askin is. if you had £5k to spend on this scooby what would you do ?

i'd find if you're near any of the big boy tuners and give them a call, they're all really helpful and would give useful advice

eg. roger clark motorsport, api, scooby clinic etc etc.........

Shouldn't an STI boost a bit higher than that? 1.1 bar from memory, nearly 16 psi.

Ha ha. On a serious note i would go for new ecu ( simtek ) Then fuel pump, injectors, front mount, brakes and coil overs. Up pipe, Down pipe, equal length headers..... The list is endless. You can do 5k quickly just choose the right bits

You'll be wasting your money spending £5k on a 13 year old car. Sell it and put the money together and get something better.

^^^ Ring him, now!^^^

Think 5k may be a bit pessimistic if you really want to turn it into something special though mate. Like it or not it's a 13 year old car and if the set up is original, the whole lot will probably need looking at with a view to upgrades, just owing to fatigue if nothing else.. i.e. Engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes.

All the best with it though!

Personally, if you have 5k sitting waiting to be spent, i'd trade up. Your car plus the cash would get you a nicely tuned V6 sti, or Type R.
Don't get me wrong, i've spent similar on my 95RA, but in stages, as didn't have the cash in one go, and did most of the work myself, saving a few quid.
If go down the route of getting your's done, you'll be spending loads of cash on labour alone, or let someone else foot this bill and buy theres.
1998 Subaru Impreza STI TYPE R V5 (P1, Evo) on eBay, also, Subaru, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Feb-09 21:44:40 GMT)
Just an example.
