Default Launch control....

Can launch control be mapped into a MY99 Uk 2000 ECU? All the videos I've watched seemed to be on the newer models...

If it can what else is needed?

Not if your running the OEM ECU.

Simtek seems to be the ECU of choice at present

I'd also budget for an uprated gearbox if the poster hasn't already got a 6 speed form a new age or PPG gearset, especially if he's running more power than std.

Otherwise

I'd give them all of a few launches before they're taking 1st gear home in a hoover bag!

completely agree with that, however the launch control can be preset to any rpm to suit.

mine is set at 5900rpm.

True. Mine is set at 5500rpm. Still yet to pull the trigger.

It built 1 bar of boost when i tried it and the whole car was shaking. I just had a feeling the world would spin backwards if i let off the clutch.

I've got a paddle clutch and type r is supposedly got a strengthened first gear, but I guess time will tell.

TBH I am more worried about what the wife will say if I need a gearbox aswell!

LC is a total waste of time and money, unless you need to complete standing starts. The set-up for this will change dependant on surface grip levels. If you have launch control with anti-lag strategy (i.e. build boost), whatever you do, don't just sit there having it pop and bang for too long, or keep doing it in succession. Unless your turbo is built for it, you may just do a little bit of damage...... and not just to the turbo.
