Unleaded petrol

Can anyone help
On the UK impreza I have you can run unleaded but can you do this on a P1.
Also just had my P1 fitted with a Scoobysport exhaust. This is my third exhaust from Scoobysport as I am sure they make the best sound.

On my UK car there is a noticable difference in performance. I have never had any problems running unleaded in that car.
But why do Subaru dealers say not to run UNLEADED on the P1.
Will I have problems if I do.
The reason I ask is because I want less power from the engine. I tried unleaded the other day in the P1 and it did make the car about the right sort of pace for me.
The reason for less performance is that I am unhappy will the handling of the P1 against my old car.But I do not feel I sould have to change the suspension when I have already paid for the best Impreza.

I'm an old school mechanic myself and not used to new fangled electrics... does the "brain" in a scooby compensate for the use of NUL by retarding the ignition to avoid pinking, hence the loss of performance?

To Barry K,
If you do not know whether it damages the engine go to another site.
Any way have you got 2 imprezas and have you driven a P1.If you have you will know about the suspension.

P1 has its ECU mapped to run on 95ron as it says so in the mechanics traing manual.
Also provides test data showing a reduction in boost pres (approx 0.5psi less) and ignition timing via the knock sensor.
A bottle of Millers octane should bring it back up to Super U/L standard.
Happy Xmas

Rich,
If you didnt want that performance then why buy the car in the first place??? now if you still want good handling then you can have my my00 turbo and you can give me your P1, which of course i shall put sul in to keep it sweet
A UK spec car should have enough power for you and the p1 should improve my "fun factor" by quite alot
