Default Confused newbie signing in

Hi all -
Trying to settle an argument in my head and I hope that some of the better knowledged out there can help and guide me to buying the right Impreza.

With a budget of around 6k do I opt for a MY99-00 UK spec car with engine upgrades or a MY97-98 import. again more confused cos there is a WRX, an STi and an STI type RA - but are all the same powerwise

what are the technicla differences between all these cars ?? what are the pro's & con's of each re spares, insurance, driving pleasure etc

Sooo many questions already..... please help

Cheers

Check out the FAQ on SIDC forum. That will tell you all and help differenciate between models.

They're far from the same power output.

Thanks, a bit of copy and Pasting

The Power stated above is PS not BHP and Some V5/6's Type R & RA's have been found to be over that.

Type R (Retenia) Type RA (Race Altered)

Imports can have.

230-290 Bhp,
lower gearing,
8000Krpm,
JDM suspension are hard for UK roads.

UK Classics

205-220 BHP, special editions, Catalunia, Terzo, Mcreas, RB5 & P1's have engine upgrades

UK cars also had Prodrive up grade options, Like PPP(prodrive Performance Pack) available 250-265Bhp. P Handling P (Springs), Wheels and Brake upgrade all enchance price and performance

7,000rpm limit on most
UK softer springs

IMHO

SO bang for buck an STi is better as an overall package..??

The RA is the 'lightweight' version so this would be faster than a UK spec with similar power then?

Would anyone buy a UK spec over a Jap spec even if the UK car was fitted with PPP.

Thanks for the input - is everyone as helpful as T5NYW??

Cheers
F
