Question

Took a test drive in a P1 today and well impressed.

Not prepared to pay list price (£31k) for a new one because;

-can get a new WRX sti6 for £23k max
-car market is a shambles + new prices falling
-insurance keeps going up
-new model arriving ( arrived )
-P1 overpriced
- trade in £15k on my V plate 00 DBM 4 door turbo w/air and quickshift ( if my cars worth less then so is theirs!!)

Best effort from dealer £29k for a used 2500 miler. Pants I said.

What is a fair price for a new P1? They must be looking to shift them. I was thinking around the £27k mark.

Thanks

Ed

For what its worth I would wait a while (if you can) and & see what the MY01 STI version is like or what Prodrive can do with the new car.
Either way you be winning as the P1 will be even cheaper!

Cool

Just a thought - try some dealers up North. K T Green nr Leeds seem to have 2 P1's languishing on the forecourt right now, that's a fair amount of capital tied up for a dealer that's just spent a packet rebuilding it's showroom!

Got offered without any trouble £28k px by a dealer last week. Mines got the Brakes and Exhaust though. Not sure what the price with its 18" wheels would be. Mines a 00W with 5000 miles. Brand new 28,500 for a totally std car would seem right. Cant see anyone selling at £27k a brand new std car. That would be a loss for the dealer. Maybe a private punter ?

I had this dilemma, get a new scoob or wait and see what the new sti is like...

I decided to get the last of the sti6typer. If i had waited a week longer im sure I would have lost the chance to get a new sti6typer later.

Heres hoping the new sti is crap and or ugly!

A salesman at Lancaster in Sevenoaks said he can get his hands on as many as he needs. This would imply they really arn't selling and IM have a bunch. Also, if you look at the Offical used vehicles on the Subaru UK website, there are plenty "ex-demonstrators" with 50 - 200 miles on the clock. The salesman also told me that these were not Demonstrators but new vehicles. As dealers can't advertise new vehicles on the website, they make up a small mileage figure and pretend so that they can get it on there.

Remember you are the customer and you are in the stronger negotiating position!! Walk away if they take the ****!!

Paul

Adams have sold the one in the showroom plus another one and got one coming in for stock which they think maybe sold already as well.

Seems that people have seen the MY01 and seen the light.

The big about dealers putting P1s on the subaru website as demo when they are unregistered is true - I phoned a local dealer for a test drive and was told that the car isn't yet registered......

There's a P1 nearly everywhere you go, and I would n't consider 27 unless the trade in was pitched at the right price. But if you'r looking for logic or simple commercial common sense in the Subaru sales network you are likely to be dissapointed:

e.g Midland dealer, 3 x Turbos in stock for at least four months. I was interested in an R plate + PPP.

Initial contact.
Best deal 1K off screen price with no p/x or bottom book plus 1K! Some deal, non Scoob dealers booking much higher.

Follow up three months later.
Same deal but my part ex had dropped by 750, as you've possibly guessed the showroom models, even in a dead market, don't suffer depreciation.

Thanks for your help.

I have been ringing around and prices are heading the right way!

The further away from London the more willing they get.
