Just a thought really, I have recently had a ticket from the boys in blue I wasn't doing anything ridiculous like racing etc. However I was wondering whether an advice section would be a good idea. I have just written a letter to plod pleading ignorance and also pointing out the fact that they have incorrectly Identified my car as a Nissan when its actually a Scoob.

Can I get off with this?

However I wanted not to incriminate myself, instead I want the best advice for wording etc.

I am willing to pay

Best wording is to tell them to f**k off and catch some real criminals. Your bound to receive an apology from them after that

I do remember reading another post on here about someones Scoob being mis-identified re. a speeding ticket. Might've been about 4-5 weeks ago.

Scott,
I'm not so sure that admitting to the police that they have incorrectly identified your car is in your best interests. If you contest it and it goes to court, it would probably be thrown out as the evidence would be inaccurate. They may now be able to correct their mistake and make you cough up.

Sounds like a good idea to me. One question though:

Where is the legal advice going to come from? Past experience with threads on "speeding" has shown they tend to get filled up very quickly with "old wives tales" etc and at the end of it all the person who has asked the question has got 35 posts which all contradict each other. Unless there are some lawyers (or someone suitably qualified in traffic law) on the BBS who are prepared to answer the questions I can't see it working.

Would it be possible to set a forum up so only authorised users could post replies??

Webbie, whaddya reckon?

Stuart H

Presumably also people's PERSONAL experiences of the legal system, i.e. what happened TO ME in court, not what I heard about from a mate etc etc

Well I'm sure that there must be legally trained people on this forum, maybe they could offer help with letter writing or advice on things to say or what not to say etc.

Obviously I am willing to part with beer tokens for some sound advice.

I'm with harry... they like it when you say that!

Surely if you break the speed limits and get caught, then that's it, your caught, and you might as well accept the punishment. It's not likely that you'll get them to change their minds is it?

On the other hand, if you don't get caught then thats great
