Thumbs up Hey all & a little help please :)

First of alll, "hello everyone!"

Had my impreza since last september but never made a post before until now.

Here's a pic of my car, if you're round tameside way give me a wave

I also have a couple of problems, they've always happened but beginning to get on my nerves now.

First major problem is...

If i'm putting my foot down and going through the gears, i'll get into 4th and occasionally it'll be like i'm hitting a brick wall. All power will drop and i'll get thrown forward out of my seat, it's really doing me head in now. Somebody mentioned maybe it's something to do with it stopping it over boosting?

Also, when it's cold it'll run like an absolute bag of spanners. Jerks all over the place (this is me taking it really really easy too). Any advice on this?

Any help would be much appreciated

It does sound like you're hitting fuel cut which is due to over boost. What mods have been done to the car?

It probably is overboosting/fuel cut. Have you got a boost controller? If so turn it down a bit.

Knackered coil packs maybe. Mine ran like a bag of ****e until it had warmed up. Replaced them and it was fine.

Any help would be much appreciated
Hope the stuff in blue helps. Nice car BTW.

Well it's been in and out of ProSport since I got it. Repairs are almost up to £2k at the moment

I bought it with mods already done to it, so i'm not 100% sure what's been done to it. I do know its got a straight through exhaust with no cat.

I also believe it's got some daft superchip on it, not sure wether this is the reason I only get 120 miles to a full tank I really wasn't prepared for such bad MPGs.

It doesn't have a boost controller on it, but I do have a gauge and it boosts up to about 13PSI, so it's not been turned up has it?

120 miles to full tank??? Jesus... you arent supposed to try and push the acelerator through the carpet ALL the time

Seriously though... superchip... that doesnt sound good Im suprised that Pete hasnt suggested getting rid of it and getting a EcuTek remap (and probably getting rid of the induction kit if there is one )
Also, if the decat is a full 3" system, that is prone to contributing to overboost. 13psi is just under 1 bar, so it must be going over that as I dont think you'd hit fuel cut till about 1.2bar (?), a lot of gauges arent that accurate though to be fair, my Apexi EL gauge always reads a bit different to what the Apexi Commander records.

When I tell people about my MPGs they assume I'm always racing around, but that isn't true. I can drive nice as pie and it'll still be lowsy.

Any advice on how to stop it cutting out then and throwing me into the windscreen?

That is awful MPG my friend, I drive pretty steady most of the time with occasional boosting and I get around 300 miles to a tank.
Hitting a brick wall is often when the fuel cut comes in because the car is over boosting. Very common with fettled scoobs. It could be that its had a de-cat and not been mapped correctly...Its definately a fixable problem, which you'll probably need to see one of the Scooby specialists on here like Andy.
A re-map may sort out your fuelling issue, it sounds like both of them are related.

Regards
Andy

Stop burying the accelerator into the carpet?

Get a boost controller and pin the boost back. If you want to enjoy the boost though, get an uprated fuel pump, and fuel pressure regulator and get a remap.
